Why 2 plus 2 is 4 …!

Is it very trivial a question or it’s just a convention or may be its beyond my understanding or let’s just say beyond Logic!

I mean why the fish anyone ever dare to question this, isn’t it as straight forward as opening your mouth, to open your mouth you just need to open it there is no trick. For the sake of logic if there is a question there must be an answer too. So let me just try to answer this to my best.

I was taught to analyze things, gather required evidences and give a conclusion. I was forced to follow a particular path which will lead me to a certain goal. Later I realized this path is Logic and the goal is Fact. So you apply logic and achieve a goal which turns out to be a fact. Is the inverse true? Do all facts are driven by some logic. Well I am in full agreement with science and can’t dare to differ. So it’s clear that facts and logic go hand in hand.

Let’s look at a much bigger picture and try to answer few more questions:
1) Is everything a fact or there are things which are not facts?
2) Do facts can have an alternate path which is not logical?
3) Finally do non-facts have non-logical path?

Well, let me try to resolve few of it by taking some examples. Energy cannot be created but can be converted from one form to another. Time and again it’s proven by number of experiments. So our science won’t rest until it finds a logical path to fact or vice versa.

Let’s say 2 + 2 =5. Is that a fact? Definitely no. So there exist things which are not facts. This answers my first question.

If I have a fact, say 2+2=4. Can I prove it by non-mathematical/ non-logical approach? Let me try. 2+2= 4, because I am still awake. Hence proved. Very illogical. Full marks! So the point 2 is also killed. But still I can’t link illogical path to fact as the very existence of fact demands the logical explanation. So a fact can have multiple logical explanations but any illogical explanations will be void.

So we are sure there are things which are not facts. But the questions is can I explain those events with non-logical paths (Though everything can be explained by illogical path but not by non-logical path!). Let me try to appreciate the difference between illogical and non-logical. Illogical is something which deliberately kills logic. While non-logical is something which is beyond logic or rather I should say beyond the reach of logic. The classical example will be the very existence of life, the unknown energy that is stabilizing a person’s body which is otherwise a very highly unstable composition of matter.

2+2 is not equal to 4, it’s just a convention created by a group of so called mathematicians. 2+2 can be 100. A person with only 2 limbs will not even be half as efficient as a person with 4 limbs. While a person with 4 limbs will be 100 times more efficient than a person with 1 or 2 limbs. So it’s the frame of reference in which we define things matters. Numbers can measure physical count but cannot measure emotion, attitude, behavior, relationship and skills.
